As Clara marched down the center aisle, the happy chatter inside the grand ballroom slowly died down into an uneasy silence. Guests on both sides turned their heads in confusion, noticing that the bride was walking completely alone without music or her traditional wedding bouquet. Julian turned around toward the carpet, a charming smile spreading across his face as he watched Clara approach him near the flower arch. He extended his right hand toward her, expecting her to place her soft fingers in his as they prepared to take their official vows.
Julian: Clara, darling, you look absolutely stunning today. Are you ready to start our new life?
Clara did not say a single word as she closed the small remaining space between them, her dark eyes glowing with pure, unbridled rage. Julian's charming smile began to fade slightly as he finally noticed the wild anger written across her pale face, but before he could pull his hand back, Clara moved. She swung her right hand across the space with all the strength inside her body, her open palm connecting sharply with Julian's left cheek. A sharp, loud crack echoed through the massive high ceilinged ballroom, cutting through the silence like a gunshot.
Julian's head snapped sideways from the violent force of the sudden impact, his body stumbling back two steps against the white wooden flower arch. The entire room filled with loud gasps from the shocked guests, who rose from their golden chairs in complete disbelief at what they had just witnessed. Julian raised his hand to his face, his fingers touching his burning red cheek as his eyes went wide with sudden shock and intense embarrassment in front of his wealthy colleagues.
Julian: Clara! What the hell is wrong with you?! Have you lost your mind in front of everyone?!
Clara: Do not ever speak my name again, you absolute coward!
Julian: Lower your voice right now! You are embarrassing me and ruining our entire wedding day!
Clara: I am not marrying you! Get away from my daughter and get out of my sight forever!
Julian's wealthy mother stepped out from the front row, her expensive diamond necklace sparkling as she grabbed Clara's lace dress shoulder with an angry scowl. She looked at Clara with complete disgust, demanding an explanation for why her successful son was being publicly humiliated at his own high society wedding event. But Clara whipped her head around, her intense glare making the older woman immediately pull her hand back in sudden hesitation.
Julian's Mother: How dare you strike my son! He gave you a luxury mansion and a stable home for your fatherless child!
Clara: Your son is a monster who put his dirty hands on a six year old child in a locked room!
The loud accusation hung heavy in the air, instantly chilling the remaining whispers among the wealthy guests who stood frozen in their rows. Julian's face turned from bright red to a ghostly pale white as he realized his dark secret was no longer hidden behind his expensive tuxedo and charm.
