Victoria took a step back, her expensive white lace gown catching on the sharp edge of a fallen folding chair.
Victoria: Fraud? What fraud?! I am the daughter of Richard Miller! My father runs Miller Construction!
Officer 2: Your father's construction company was placed into emergency receivership thirty minutes ago, ma'am. He is currently being detained at the central precinct for deed forgery.
Victoria: No! No, that's impossible! My dad signed the valley land acquisition this morning!
Officer 1: He signed a forged deed for Mrs. Evelyn Vance's private farmhouse property using a fake notary seal.
Victoria: It wasn't fake! She agreed to sell it to us!
Officer 2: We have live video footage from the farmhouse premises showing your moving crew breaking the locks on her front door without a valid court eviction order.
Marcus: Victoria... what did your father do? You told me the paperwork was completely clean!
Victoria: You told me to get the land no matter what, Marcus! You said we needed that valley property to secure our real estate loan!
Marcus: I didn't tell you to forge signatures! You ruined everything!
Victoria: Don't you dare blame this on me, you coward! You're the one who slapped your aunt in front of two hundred people!
Marcus: Because you kept whispering in my ear that she was weak and powerless!
The surrounding wedding guests began picking up their bags and coats, quickly shuffling toward the side exits to avoid being caught in the scandal.
Guest 5: I knew something was wrong when they started boasting about that farm land.
Guest 6: They broke into an old woman's house while she was sitting at their wedding! That is utterly disgusting.
Guest 5: And then he hit her because she wouldn't let them walk all over her. They deserve everything that's coming to them.
Marcus grabbed the front of Officer 1's uniform, his eyes wide with absolute panic.
Marcus: Please, officer! Let me talk to Evelyn! I'm her nephew! She loves me! She was just angry because of the farm!
Officer 1: Remove your hands from my uniform immediately, sir, or I will add resisting arrest to your charges.
Marcus: I'll apologize to her! I'll get down on my knees and beg for her forgiveness right now!
Officer 2: Mrs. Vance has already issued a formal restraining order against you, Mr. Vance. You are not allowed within five hundred feet of her person or her properties.
The second officer grabbed Marcus's arm, twisting it behind his back and clicking a cold steel handcuff around his wrist.
Marcus let out a loud, pathetic wail that echoed off the high, unlit ceilings of the ballroom.
Marcus: Victoria! Call your father's lawyer! Do something!
Victoria: My father's lawyer is in jail with him, you idiot! My family is completely ruined!
Officer 2 stepped up to Victoria, pulling her hands behind her back despite her fierce struggling.
Victoria: Get your filthy hands off my dress! This gown cost forty thousand dollars!
Officer 2: That gown is going to look very strange sitting in a county holding cell, ma'am. Watch your head.
The officers led the handcuffed bride and groom past the abandoned wedding cake, through the dark ballroom, and out into the blazing sunlight where three police cruisers were parked with their red and blue lights flashing.
