As Julian held his trembling wife on the floor, the heavy silence of the mansion was suddenly broken by the slow, deliberate click of high-heeled shoes coming from the upper floor. The sound echoed rhythmically down the grand staircase, cold and arrogant. Julian kept one arm tightly around Elena's shaking shoulders as he turned his head toward the stairs. Descending the white marble steps with graceful, predatory confidence was Victoria. She wore a stunning burgundy strapless gown made of silk, holding a crystal glass of expensive red wine in her manicured hand. Her golden hair was styled perfectly, and her face wore a cold, mocking smirk that sent a chill through the warm room. She looked down at Julian and Elena as if they were nothing more than insects crawling across her polished floor. There was no shame in her eyes, no shock, and no hint of regret. She took a slow sip from her glass and smiled darkly at her stepbrother.
Victoria: Well, well. Look who finally decided to come back from his little business trip.
Julian: What is the meaning of this, Victoria? Why is my wife dressed in rags on the floor?
Victoria: She was here all along, Julian. She is my maid now, and honestly, she’s not even very good at it.
Julian: Have you completely lost your mind? This is Elena's house! I gave you a place to stay after your divorce, and you turned my wife into a servant?
Victoria: Your house? Oh, Julian, you are always so slow to catch up on family business. Check the land registry, my dear brother. This estate doesn't belong to you or your weak little pathetic wife anymore.
Julian’s blood ran cold at her words, but his anger flared even hotter. He slowly stood up from the wet floor, shielding Elena behind his body. Victoria reached the bottom of the stairs, taking another calm sip of her wine as she walked right up to them. She looked at Elena with utter disgust, lifting her foot to lightly tap the plastic water bucket, kicking it over completely so the rest of the filthy water poured across Julian’s leather shoes. She smiled wickedly, enjoying every second of the horror painted across Julian's face. She believed she had executed the perfect plan, taking advantage of Julian's absence and Elena's gentle, quiet nature to steal everything they owned through fraud and physical intimidation.
Victoria: She was so easy to break, Julian. A few forged signatures on power-of-attorney documents, a little isolation, and she signed over the deed to the mansion without even knowing what she was reading. She thought she was signing medical forms.
Elena: She told me you were dead, Julian! She said you died in a plane crash over the ocean and that the house was going to foreclosure!
Victoria: Shut up, you useless stray! Speak when you're spoken to, or you won't get dinner tonight!
Julian: Don't you dare speak to her like that again!
Victoria: I can speak to my help however I please in my own home. Now take your hands off my maid and get out of my house before I call the police for trespassing.
Victoria laughed, a high, mocking sound that echoed off the tall walls. She raised her wine glass to her lips again, completely confident in her total control over the situation. But she had severely underestimated the man standing before her. Julian had built a billion-dollar technology empire from nothing through absolute grit and relentless determination. He was not a man who surrendered when the people he loved were threatened. Seeing the cruel joy in Victoria's eyes snapped the last string of restraint holding him back. In one violent motion, Julian stepped forward across the wet marble floor, his eyes burning with terrifying fury, determined to destroy the evil that had invaded his sanctuary.
