Carter: Clara, you can't be serious! You're taking my job away over an argument at lunch?!
Clara: It wasn't an argument, Carter. It was a revelation of your true character.
Carter: I'll apologize on my knees in front of the whole ballroom! I'll tell everyone I was wrong!
Clara: I don't need your public apology. I have the estate records.
Eleanor: Where are we supposed to live, Clara?! The penthouse downtown is registered under corporate assets!
Clara: You have thirty days to pack your personal belongings and vacate the penthouse.
Eleanor: THIRTY DAYS?! That penthouse has been my home for fifteen years!
Clara: And it was purchased with dividends generated from my grandfather's stolen patent money.
Eleanor: It wasn't stolen! It was a business investment!
Clara: An investment that Charles Montgomery hid from my mother while she worked two jobs to pay for my tuition.
Tears welled up in Clara's eyes again, but her voice remained firm as steel as she looked down at the documents on her desk.
Clara: My mother died three years ago thinking she had nothing. While you were throwing fifty-thousand-dollar birthday parties in this very ballroom.
Carter: Clara... I didn't know about any of that! My grandfather did that, not me!
Clara: But you inherited his arrogance, Carter. You looked down on me every single day.
Carter: I loved you! I swear I loved you!
Clara: You loved having a sweet, quiet girl you could push around when you felt small.
Two uniformed security officers stepped into the office, standing beside the open doorway.
Security Guard: Miss Brooks, the grounds team has cleared their personal lockers in the lower suite.
Clara: Thank you, Marcus. Please escort Mrs. Montgomery and her son off the main floor.
Eleanor: Don't you lay a hand on me, you common thug!
Security Guard: Ma'am, if you don't walk out voluntarily, we will have to call local law enforcement for trespassing.
Eleanor: Trespassing on my own estate?! This is an outrage!
Clara: It's not your estate anymore, Eleanor. It's mine.
Eleanor grabbed her designer purse from the chair, her face contorted in pure rage as she glared at Clara one last time.
Eleanor: You'll ruin this company in six months! You know nothing about running a luxury resort!
Clara: I have a Master's degree in Business Management from Columbia, Eleanor. A degree I paid for myself while Carter was failing his introductory finance classes.
Vance: That is correct. Miss Brooks graduated top of her class.
Eleanor turned on her heel and stormed out into the corridor, her heavy heels echoing off the marble walls as the security guard followed close behind.
