The Lost Diamond Necklace

A Wealthy Woman Framed Her Maid Until The CCTV Video Played

The sun streamed through the massive glass windows of the Sterling family estate, casting bright patterns across the polished white marble floor. Dozens of high-society guests chatted politely while sipping expensive champagne from crystal glasses. Elena adjusted her black apron with trembling hands, feeling out of place among the wealthy crowd. She worked twelve hours a day as a housemaid to pay off her mother's medical bills and cover the rent on their tiny apartment. Everyday life was a continuous struggle, but she always took pride in being honest and dependable.

Victoria Sterling stood near the grand staircase wearing a brilliant blue silk gown and a white fur shawl. Her husband had built a massive fortune in real estate, allowing her to host the grandest parties in the entire city. Victoria loved being the center of attention, but she held a deep contempt for the household staff. She watched Elena clean a nearby side table with cold, calculating eyes. Earlier that morning, Victoria had misplaced her priceless diamond necklace, and instead of searching properly, she saw a golden opportunity to cause trouble.

Suddenly, Victoria let out a loud, shrill scream that instantly silenced the entire room. The chamber music stopped as guests turned their heads toward the grand foyer. Victoria gripped her neck, gasping dramatically as if she had just seen a ghost. Her friend nearby hurried over with a worried expression on her face.

Victoria: My necklace! My six-hundred-thousand-dollar diamond necklace is gone from my dressing table!

Guest: Oh my goodness, Victoria! Are you absolutely sure you did not leave it in the master bedroom?

Victoria: I am completely certain! Someone in this room stole it, and I know exactly who!

Victoria marched straight toward Elena, her high heels clicking loudly against the polished floor. Elena froze, holding her cleaning cloth tightly against her stomach as her heart started racing wildly. She could feel the heavy gazes of fifty wealthy socialites boring into her back like hot irons.

Victoria: You were cleaning my private room less than twenty minutes ago! Give it back to me right now, you miserable thief!

Elena: I did not take anything, ma'am! I only dusted the shelves and emptied the wastebasket like you asked me to do!

Before Elena could finish her sentence, Victoria raised her right hand and brought it down hard. A loud, sickening slap echoed through the mansion, shaking the quiet room. Elena stumbled backward, dropping her cleaning cloth as a bright red handprint flared across her fair cheek. Tears filled her eyes immediately, stinging with hot shame and sudden physical pain.

Elena: Please, I swear on my life! I would never take anything that does not belong to me!

Victoria: Silence! You low-class liar! Your kind cannot be trusted near anything valuable!

Victoria pointed forcefully at a simple brown leather tote bag resting beside the coat rack near the front door. It was Elena's personal bag, containing only her bus pass, a half-eaten sandwich, and a few small personal items. Victoria demanded that the security guards dump the bag onto the floor immediately to prove her accusation.
