A Confrontation at the Office

A Boy Stopped My Wedding With One Picture In Hand

The next morning, the bright sun lit up the glass tower downtown.

Claire walked into the high-end financial firm with total determination.

She wore a sharp black suit instead of her white wedding dress.

Sarah walked right beside her, carrying a legal folder in her hand.

They headed straight toward Mark's corner office on the top floor.

The secretary looked up in surprise as they pushed open the doors.

Secretary: Ma'am, Mr. Mark is in a private meeting with the board!

Claire: That meeting is about to become public right now.

Claire pushed open the heavy oak doors of the boardroom.

Mark was standing at the head of a long mahogany table.

Six corporate executives were listening to his presentation on investments.

Mark froze mid-sentence, dropping his dry-erase marker onto the floor.

Mark: Claire? What are you doing in my office building?

Claire: I came to return something you left at our ruined wedding.

Claire tossed a heavy manila folder onto the center of the table.

The file slid right in front of the senior managing partner.

Managing Partner: What is the meaning of this interruption, miss?

Claire: Your top advisor here is running a massive personal fraud scheme.

Mark: She is upset over a personal dispute, gentlemen!

Mark: Please have security remove these women from the building immediately!

Sarah: Show them the bank transfers from the shared family accounts, Claire.

Claire opened the folder to reveal official copies of Mark's bank records.

The managing partner put on his glasses and began reviewing the papers.

His forehead creased as he read through the list of transactions.

Managing Partner: Mark, why are company client funds moving to these offshore names?

Mark began to sweat heavily through his expensive crisp white shirt.

Mark: Those are just temporary investment transfers for foreign clients sir!

Claire: No, those are stolen funds taken from his legal wife and child.

Sarah: He used company accounts to conceal assets during our marriage.

The managing partner stood up and closed the folder with a loud clap.

He looked at Mark with cold, professional anger and disappointment.

Managing Partner: Mark, pack your personal desk items immediately.

Mark: Sir, you can't fire me based on personal allegations!

Managing Partner: You are suspended without pay effective right this second.

Managing Partner: Our corporate legal team will audit every single one of your accounts.

Mark stumbled back against the glass window of the boardroom.

His entire world was crumbling around him in a matter of minutes.

Claire stepped closer to him, her posture upright and unyielding.

Claire: You thought you could manipulate women for your personal gain.

Claire: You thought we would stay quiet out of embarrassment and shame.

Sarah: But we found each other, Mark.

Mark: You two are destroying my entire life and career!

Claire: No, Mark, you destroyed your own life with your endless greed.

Two security guards entered the boardroom and stood on either side of Mark.

They escorted him out of the room as his former colleagues watched.

Claire and Sarah walked out into the hallway with heads held high.
