The Demands On The Floor

Victoria: You think hitting me changes anything, Ryan?

Ryan: Maya, look at me. Are you okay?

Maya: Ryan... the baby is coming!

Ryan: I've got you, baby. I've got you.

Victoria: She hasn't signed the release forms for your father's trust fund!

Ryan: Shut your mouth, Victoria!

Victoria: Your father's estate belongs to the family company, not to a homeless orphan you picked up!

Ryan lifted Maya carefully onto the soft leather sofa, wiping the sweat and tears from her forehead.

Maya: She came in with a key... she demanded I sign the bank papers...

Ryan: Did she hit you before I walked in?

Maya: She shoved me... then she grabbed my hair when I tried to call nine-one-one.

Victoria pulled herself up from the floor, leaning against the marble kitchen island as she rubbed her bruised side.

Victoria: I am your stepmother, Ryan! You will show me respect!

Ryan: You lost any right to respect the moment you touched my wife.

Victoria: That house, that money, and that trust account were managed by your father for twenty years!

Ryan: My father left the trust fund exclusively to Maya and our child!

Victoria: Because he was senile when he wrote that will!

Maya: He wasn't senile... he knew what you were doing with the corporate accounts.

Victoria: You quiet down! You don't know anything about our business!

Ryan: She knows enough. And so do I.

Ryan reached into his uniform jacket pocket, pulling out a small military phone and dialing a number on speaker.

Dispatch: Nine-one-one, what is your emergency?

Ryan: I need an ambulance at forty-two Maple Drive immediately. My wife is in labor.

Victoria: Don't you dare bring paramedics here! The press will see!

Ryan: And I need police officers dispatched for home invasion and assault.

Victoria: Assault?! I am the one who was just kicked to the ground!

Ryan: You broke into my home and attacked a pregnant woman, Victoria.

Dispatch: Units are en route, sir. Stay on the line.

Victoria's eyes darted toward the open front door as panic finally began to show through her arrogant mask.

Victoria: You wouldn't throw your own stepmother in jail, Ryan. Think about the family name!

Ryan: My family is right here on this sofa. You mean nothing to me.

Maya: Ryan... the contractions are getting closer!

Ryan: Hang on, sweetheart. The ambulance is two minutes away.

Victoria: You're making the biggest mistake of your life, Ryan!

Ryan: The only mistake I made was deployment leaving Maya unprotected near you.
