The Broken Glass

Victoria: Someone call security right now! She assaulted me!

Clara: Go ahead, Victoria. Tell them to bring the police too.

Victoria: You crazy bitch! Look what you did to my dress!

Clara: I don't give a damn about your dress.

Julian: What on earth happened over here?!

Julian rushed through the crowd of tuxedo-clad guests, his face pale as he looked at the shattered glass and his bleeding stepmother.

Victoria: Julian! This psychotic catering girl just punched me in the face!

Julian: Clara? What are you doing wearing a waitress uniform?

Clara: I had to get into this room somehow, Julian.

Victoria: Julian, do you know this trashy street girl?

Julian: Stepmother, shut up for a second. Clara, why are you here?

Clara: Because today is the reading of my father's final estate trust.

Victoria: Your father?! Your father was a nobody who died broke twenty years ago!

Clara: My father was Arthur Sterling, the founder of Sterling Global Trust.

A loud gasp rippled through the surrounding crowd of high-society guests.

Guest 1: Did she just say Arthur Sterling?

Guest 2: Arthur only had one daughter who went missing after the boat accident!

Victoria: She's lying! She's a con artist trying to steal our family inheritance!

Victoria struggled to push herself up from the wet floor, her expensive green dress soaked in champagne and stained with blood from her nose.

Victoria: Julian, call the guards and have her thrown out into the street!

Julian: Stepmother... look at her neck.

Victoria: What about her neck?!

Julian: She's wearing the silver emerald locket.

Victoria's face instantly lost all color as her eyes fixed on the small antique pendant resting against Clara's neck.

Victoria: That... that's impossible. I threw that locket into the river fifteen years ago!

Clara: You thought you threw it into the river, Victoria. But you threw it into the car seat right before you abandoned me at the orphanage shelter.

Victoria: You're insane! I never abandoned anyone!

Clara: You forged my death certificate so you could take full control of my father's fifty-million-dollar trust fund!

Julian: Clara... is it really you? Is it really my little sister?

Clara: Don't call me your sister, Julian. You stood by and watched her steal everything that belonged to my mother.

Julian: I was only twelve years old when you vanished! I didn't know what she did!

Clara: Well, you know now. And tonight, the truth comes out in front of everyone.

Victoria wiped the blood from her chin, her eyes filled with desperate, animalistic rage.

Victoria: Nobody will believe a word from a low-class waitress! You have no proof!

Clara: I have more than proof, Victoria. I have the master attorney who drafted my father's original will standing right behind you.
