The sound of Leo's heavy, hysterical crying filled the high-ceilinged foyer, echoing off the marble floors and glass chandelier. The boy's small hands clung to Elena's apron with all his strength, his face buried deep into the fabric of her uniform. Elena wrapped her arms around the child immediately, dropping to her knees on the cold floor to hold him close, her own eyes filling with tears of pity and care.
Julian froze in place, his heart sinking as he watched his son weep so intensely. In all his seven years, Julian had never seen Leo cry with such deep, overwhelming despair. What shocked Julian even more was that the boy had passed right by his mother and bypassed him entirely to seek safety in the arms of the house maid.
Leo: I don't want to go back to Mommy again! Please, Elena, don't let her take me!
Victoria's sweet facade vanished in a split second. Her cheeks flushed bright red with pure anger and embarrassment. She saw the suspicious look forming on Julian's face and realized that her carefully constructed image was crumbling right in front of her husband. She stepped forward abruptly, her high heels clicking sharply against the marble floor.
Victoria: Stop this ridiculous drama right now, you spoiled brat! Elena, get away from my son this instant!
Before anyone could react, Victoria reached down and angrily slapped Elena across the face with an open hand. The sharp sound of the slap echoed through the quiet foyer like a gunshot. Elena gasped in pain, her head turning sideways from the force of the blow, but she refused to let go of the trembling boy.
Victoria then grabbed Leo forcefully by his small upper arm, yanking him away from Elena's embrace with raw, violent strength. The boy let out a loud, painful scream that cut straight through Julian's soul.
Leo: No! Let me go! Daddy, help me!
Julian's eyes widened with absolute fury as he saw his wife physically striking the maid and dragging their terrified child across the floor. All the doubts, all the calculated excuses, and all the lies Victoria had fed him over the past months vanished in an instant. Julian moved with swift, powerful steps across the foyer, his face dark with rage.
He stepped directly between Victoria and the maid, grabbing Leo by his waist and forcefully wrenching him out of Victoria's tight grip into his own protective arms. He pulled the boy close against his chest, holding him firmly with one hand while using his body to shield him completely from Victoria.
Julian: Get your hands off him right now!
Victoria: Julian, don't be absurd! The boy is throws a tantrum because I wouldn't let him have sweets before his photoshoot! He is manipulating you!
Julian: Shut your mouth, Victoria! I saw what you just did with my own eyes!
Leo clung safely in his father's strong arms, his small body trembling violently against Julian's suit jacket. He raised a shaking, tear-stained finger and pointed it directly at his mother's face, his voice cracking with deep, heartbroken sobs that shattered every lie Victoria had ever spoken.
Leo: Mommy hurts me all the time! She pinches me and locks me in the dark when you go away on work trips!
Julian turned his head slowly to look down at his son, his heart breaking into a thousand pieces as he heard those terrible words. He gently reached down and pulled back the sleeve of Leo's dark suit coat. Right there on the boy's pale skin were fresh, dark red bruised fingernail marks, perfectly matching the shape of a hand.
